Description
English: ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE, Philippines (Sept. 6, 2009) A rigid hull inflatable boat operated by members of U.S. Joint Special Operations Task Force–Philippines (JSOTF-P) approaches a Philippine Navy patrol boat carrying survivors from a super ferry that sank in the waters off of Zamboanga del Norte Sept. 6, 2009. In the background, Superferry 5 carries survivors . At the request of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, JSOTF-P dispatched five boats and a civilian helicopter to assist in the search and rescue effort. The service members, from U.S. Naval Special Boat Unit 12 and U.S. Navy Seal Team 7, joined the Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard and civilian rescue personnel to search for survivors and provide medical care to the injured.
